On Saturday, September 7th, Rosa Parks Elementary School families and friends joined CommunityGrows staff Ezekiel McCarter to prepare the garden beds for the Fall seasons. The lower garden was weeded, turned and readied for teachers to use with their classes. The upper garden was weeded and mulched. CommunityGrows staff teaches environmental education classes in the upper garden, which also houses three chickens, Louigi, Louisa, and 49er! The tiled mural caterpillar was spruced up with new paint and at the end of the day, the gounds were clean and shiny-ready for the kids on Monday.
