Volunteer Spotlight: Matt McWitz

Matt started volunteering with our in-school Rosa Parks classes in the fall of 2015. Here’s what he has to say about his experience:

“CommunityGrows is teaching the kids a great many things, but I think perhaps one of the most important lessons is that we must respect and love the earth. The kids learn to pay attention to the plants and appreciate them as living things. They learn how to interpret the conditions and feelings of the garden. I volunteer with the program because I think this sort of thinking is completely invaluable in our society today, as we become further and further disconnected from our planet and the earth we depend on. We can’t forget our roots, and programs like CommunityGrows work hard to make sure that we don’t.”

Thank you for all that you do, Matt! We are so grateful for the energy, care and excitement you bring to the kiddos at Rosa Parks.
