African American Arts & Culture Complex Winter Carnival

On Saturday December 15th the African American Arts & Culture Complex (AAACC) had a most amazing carnival. Thanks to London Breed, the Complex’s outgoing Executive Director and District 5’s new Supervisor at City Hall (congratulations London!), the AAACC’s parking lot became every kids’ outdoor holiday party. CommunityGrows has their administrative office at the AAACC and came to enjoy the fun. Even with grey skies and threatening rain, kids came from everywhere in the neighborhood to enjoy a real snow ring, ferris wheel, a ridable minaiture railway, rolling teacups, water-shooting arcade, pony rides, a petting zoo, and a pirates’ revenge pendulum swing. The Golden State Warriors gave away t-shirts and beads. The fire department came with their great red truck. There was face painting and a special visit from Cinderella and Prince Charming. The highlights were many, including a great show with performances by the Village Project’s young singers and an amazing group of youth dancers. What a great event not soon to be forgotten by hundreds of kids! Fantastic! For more photos, check out our Flickr Photostream.
