We would like to welcome Kelly ErnstFriedman to our staff as the new Director of Programs. Her recent work with the Oakland School District on the development of a food recovery program inspired her to seek out CommunityGrows, which is committed to planting the seeds of food justice among Bay Area youth. She spent the last two years working with a start-up nonprofit, Food-Shift, directing program development, budgeting and grants, volunteers, operations and procedures and data management. She was also the Program Coordinator for Green Science Policy Institute in Berkeley, CA. She holds a PhD in Anthropology; with a Concentration in Race, Gender, and Social Justice from the American University in Washington, DC. Kelly’s looking forward to meeting all our students, partners and stakeholders and we’re happy to have her on board!
