Job Panel for the BEETS

On Tuesday, December 4, 2012 seven professionals came to talk with the fall cohort of BEETS (Band of Environmentally Educated and Employable Teens). They included Danise Sugita from Public Allies; Michele Palmer from Friends of the Urban Forest; Jeremy Siemers and Ashley from Starbucks; Brian Reyes—an environmental consultant/planner with the City; Ashley, from a neighborhood youth program; and Mathews Tisatayane, a nurse at UCSF. They each talked about their lives and what brought them to their current jobs. Many faced challenges and gained inspiration on their path which was very encouraging for our BEETS. The panelists shared tips and opportunities that would help the BEETS in their pursuit of gainful employment. The teens then had an opportunity to ask questions and network at an informal reception. For more photos check out our Flickr Photostream here.
