Now Recruiting Garden Educator for Summer

One of our terrific Garden Educators is going off to teach in South Korea and we need to replace her ASAP. We hope to have some one in this position by the first week in June 2011.

We’ve enclosed the job description here. As a garden educator, the candidate would be responsible for planning and teaching one-two garden /cooking classes per day. In addition, the candidate would assist with garden maintenance, outreach, planning and implementing garden events, and some office work. This position would also supervise any interns or volunteers that assist with classes. It is very important that the candidate relate to youth and families from a diversity of backgrounds (especially those living in the Western Addition of San Francisco). Persons of color are encourage to apply.

The candidate must have at least three years of teaching experience, especially with youth ages 5-12. They must be experienced with garden management and garden education curriculum.

Hours are 20 hours per week with availability in the afternoons and one Saturday every month. Starting salary is $15/hour. This is a part-time temporary position with the possibility of an extension after three months.
