Rosa Parks Workday—two hour transformation!

On Saturday, August 27th the Rosa Parks Elementary School was the scene of an amazing two-hour transformation of its new upper garden. The PTA, joined by parents and children, CommunityGrows staff and a great group of volunteers came out to roll up their sleeves and show the love. Under grey skies and cool temperatures everyone pitched in to remove weeds, move hay bales, soften the hard earth, transport two truck loads of soil in wheelbarrows, construct raised beds, and plant seeds. Everyone had a terrific time and there was a great sense of community. This video pieces together the positive activity of the day. We feel so lucky to be a part of Rosa Parks Elementary, and everyone is ready to start the new school year. To see more photos, go to our Flickr Photostream.

A great group of volunteers joined us from San Francisco State University, as a community service event for the inter-varsity Christian Fellowship Group.
