Welcome Melissa Tang-New BEETS Manager

9.14.13-KP-Wkday-BEETS_Melissa_IMG_2591We would like to welcome and share with you our new BEETS (Band of Environmentally Educated and Employable Teens) Program Manager, Melissa Tang, who joined the CommunityGrows staff in July 2013. She is responsible for program design and implementation of the BEETS teen internship program. Melissa has over five years experience in youth development and education, specifically working with underserved teens from San Francisco. Melissa worked as the assistant manager of the Careers in Science internship program at the California Academy of Sciences to engage underrepresented teens in STEM education. There she managed youth, managed alumni engagement, and developed and delivered science, workforce development, and college preparation curriculum. Prior to this, she taught workforce development skills to at risk teens in San Francisco at the Jewish Vocational Services. Melissa holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Welcome Melissa and great to have you on board!
