On June 30, 2012 we had a great workday in Koshland Park and Garden. A great turnout with Walden House folks and our BEETS (Band of Environmentally Educated and Employable Teens), folks from Rosa Parks Elementary, and others checking us out for the very first time.
Recreation and Park Department Gardener, Guy, had many youth planting through out the upper park, and Adrian Almquist, our garden educator, kept folks busy in the garden. One of the great successes of the day, besides weeding and composting, was erecting a bean climbing fence along the north wall of the garden. A new teen, Aaron Thi, who had just joined our program from the Japanese Community Youth Council-Summer Work Experience Program, pitched in with current and former BEETS.
